Family Banana Split

It is a big treat at our house to share a big banana split for dessert. The kids and Brett practically shove each other out of the way to get to the ice cream bowl. Notice that I say Brett and the kids. While I like ice cream topped with chocolate, caramel, nuts and bananas. I'm just not crazy about sharing my ice cream with five other hungry scrapping maniacs.

Spiderman versus The Hulk

I said to the boys this morning, "Boys stop wrestling and get dressed."
Orion replied, "We're not the boys. We're the Hulk and Spiderman."
Looks like Spiderman is getting his fanny kicked.

We're proud of Orion

Orion's first grade teacher challenged all of her students to memorize the last names of the U.S. presidents. They spent the month of February learning about the presidents. At the beginning of the month Orion brought home a list with the presidents' names in chronological order. I practiced with him a few times. Then last week he brought home the note saying that all of the students were going to recite the names on Friday, February 27th at noon. I checked in with Orion and asked him how he was coming along. On Monday he said that he knew about 20 names. Well, we had an incredibly busy week for various reasons. I didn't spend hardly any time practicing with Orion for which I felt incredibly guilty.
Well ... on Friday Orion recited all 44 presidents' last names in order (one of only 3 students in his class to name them all.) I guess it just goes to show me that it is a good thing to let kids accomplish things on their own because they can do them.
